Xbox Live Sales Record Broken By Shadow Complex

Shadow Complex LogoMicrosoft has announced today that the recently released Shadow Complex Xbox Live Arcade game has broken sales records. The game, that was developed by Epic, creators of the Gears of War series, was given the title of the most downloaded single-player title for Xbox Live Arcade. It was awarded this title after the number of downloads racked up to over 200,000 in the first week of release.

Unfortunately for Epic, they were limited to being the best selling “single-player” game because just a month before, the overall sales record was taken by EA’s Battlefield 1943. Although this multiplayer game was available on both the Xbox Live Marketplace and the Playstation Network, giving them an advantage over Shadow Complex, they still managed to rack up over 600,000 sales. This gave them the title of fastest selling game for both the first day and the first week of sales.

Another recently popular arcade game has been Trials HD, however nothing has been said whether this one managed to break any new records.

It does seem that arcade based games are becoming more popular, maybe developers are finding that for a quick investment on a relatively short game, they can make a tidy income. Just as long as we don’t see developers solely making arcade games in the future, I will be hapy.

My favourite games are mainly FPS games, Halo, Gears of War and Call of Duty are particular favourites. However, I'll play pretty much all genres of games, anything from Guitar Hero 5 to Lego Harry Potter, they're all great!
