Xbox Announces Avatar Marketplace

Xbox 360 Avatar MarketplaceThis bit of news comes as no surprise to me really because when they first announced that in the New Xbox Experience that they would be bringing avatars that you could dress and change the facial features to look like you, I talked to Matteo89 about it, and we both anticipated that in the near future they would release clothes for your avatar for your favourite games that you have to pay for. And we were correct.

A letter was written yesterday on the community part of the Xbox.com site from Marc Whitten who wrote about all the cool new features coming to the Xbox 360, mainly ones that had been announced at the Microsoft E3 conference.

But he didn’t just say about the E3 announcements, he aslo wrote that in the near future they will be releasing a new feature to the dashboard, the Avatar Marketplace which allows you to buy animated props and outfits from your favourite games for your avatar, which will cost of course.

He also said that we will be getting some sort of props for our avatars for playing games, these are called Avatar Awardables. Could they be similar to the Playsation 3 trophies? If so maybe we could have our own trophy rooms.

Although it is all a way to just that little bit more money out of us, I’m sure it will be a much used feature as everyone will want their avatar to look absolutely unique. All of this is meant to be released this summer, another dashboard update I sense.
