Red Rings of DeathNothing seems to be going well for me today, it didn’t really go off to a good start when my Xbox 360 gave up while I was playing GTA 4. The screen went fuzzy, restarted, and I got the red rings and an E74 hardware issue message appear on my screen.

I guess one good thing about this problem is that Microsoft actually recognize it as a problem and they have increased their warranty on this problem to 3 years instead of 1. However, there is a major downside to this problem occurring, it will take 2-3 weeks to repair it and sods law means that the console didn’t break down 3 weeks ago when there were no new games really being released, but now, less than a week before Guitar Hero Metallica and Terminator Salvation and any games that are due for release at the beginning of June.

So unfortuantely, it doesn’t look like I will be doing any reviews for the new games within the next 3 weeks thanks to a good old hardware issue, atleast it’s not my hard drive that’s the problem really otherwise I would be back at stage 1 with all my games and have to re-download all my Rock Band songs.

If you mean do you have to pay once they fix your Xbox? It depends, if your Xbox is still under warranty for that particular problem then you don’t have to pay, however, if it’s out of warranty, you will most likely have to pay a fee for the repair, which I assume would differ based on the scale of your problem.
