With Christmas just round the corner, many children will be asking for a new games console this year. But which one is the best value for money and the best to buy? With the 3 main next generation consoles, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii, all competing against each other, which one is the best to get?
I’ll start with the Xbox 360. After a price reduction, the Xbox 360 now costs £130, making it the cheapest console of the 3 next gens. But, for the £130 you only get the arcade system which does not comes with a hard drive, so, what about the console bundles. As for the arcade system, you can get 3 games and 2 wireless controllers for less than £160. As for the premium console, you can get a premium console which includes a 60GB hard drive, 3 games and 2 controllers for around £200. And if you are after the best Xbox, the Xbox 360 Elite will set you back £260, but for this you get a 120GB hard drive, 3 games and 2 wireless controllers.
Overall, the Xbox is a great console with many exclusive games. Plus with a massive online community, it’s perfect for any family or solo gamers.
On to the second console, the Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo Wii is a great family console, it features a wide range of fun family games to keep your family playing for hours. The standard Wii will cost you around £180 and for a bundle £270, which includes the console, 2 controllers, 2 nunchucks and 4 games.
Overall the Nintendo Wii is a brilliant console, it’s like no other console currently on the market, plus with a huge range of family and child friendly games, it’s a great console for all ages.
The final console is the PlayStation 3, this is the newest next gen console, and the most expensive. Although the Playstation and Xbox are very similar, the Playstation has one hardware benefit, it features a Blu-ray DVD player. Also, within the last few days, Sony released their new PlayStation Home, a new online community for all Playstation owners.
As for the price, the standard console which has a 40GB hard drive included will cost just under £300. As for a bundle, you can get a Playstation with an 80GB hard drive and 4 games for around £300.
Obviously the Playstation 3 console is the most expensive but I wouldn’t say it’s the best of the 3. Although the console is similar to the Xbox 360, the Playstation gets less exclusive content than the Xbox, however, with the Playstation, you get free access to the Playstation Network, whereas you have to pay for Xbox Live.
Finally, I would say that the Xbox 360 is the best console for solo gaming and online gaming and the Nintendo Wii is best for younger aged and family gaming.
I don’t really think you can put the Wii in the same category as the other 2. The Xbox 360 and the PS3 are for hardcore gamers, while the Wii is an innovative fun console for families and kids. I think the PS3 is going to kick the Xbox 360′s ass this christmas, but the Wii will probably do pretty well regardless of the PS3′s presence.
I like the wii, It;s fun to play, depending on the game offcourse
and you can also receive great health benefits from it!
