What do people do with Blockbuster disks?

Tom Clancy's HAWX DiskOk so since Tom Clancy’s HAWX was released just under 2 weeks ago I have been down to Blockbusters atleast 3 times to see if they have it in stock, which they did not. Until today.

So I get him home, put in into the Xbox 360 disk drive and…. ERROR, this disk is not readable, so I take it out give it a good clean, try again and I get the same error. This time, I take it out and look at it, and to my surprise, it has scratches all over it.

Seriously, this game was released less than 2 weeks ago which means as you get games for one week, it has only been out to one person, and it is ruined. There is a huge scratch that runs all around the outside of the disk plus lots of scratches and scuff marks all over the disk. So I really want to know what that person did with the disk, did they eat their dinner off of it, it would explain the scratches.

Tom Clancy's HAWX DiskObviously this is not the fault of Blockbusters but still, I was just shocked at how scratched it was considering the amount of time the game has been out.

Just a quick note here, as I was looking at the picture I had taken of the disk it says “Do not make illegal copies of this disc.” made me laugh, anyone that plans to copy the disk is not going to change their mind simply becase it says so on the disk.

Hi I'm Dan (aka Scrooby). I'm an 18 year old gamer and full time Web Developer for FreshEgg. Most of gaming tends to be on the Xbox 360 mainly because I love the achievement system. My favourite games are mainly FPS games, Halo, Gears of War and Call of Duty are particular favourites. However, I'll play pretty much all genres of games, anything from Guitar Hero 5 to Lego Harry Potter, they're all great!

  1. Scrooby, I believe it is Blockbusters fault. They have the resources available to run disc checks to see if there are any bad sectors. But they do not do this. With a disc that is two weeks old, I would not blame them for not running a check on their software. But just a visual inspection should have raised their suspicions. Regardless, it sucks getting a scratched disc!

    • Yeh you’d think they would atleast check the underside to see if it’s damaged, you could probably get away with giving them a different disk and they would be none the wiser :P
