As you may know, I said in a recent post that I had bought the latest Sonic game, Sonic Unleashed, and here is my take on the game.
Every game has it’s good points and bad points, so lets start with the good. This Sonic game has to be the best one yet, with the ability to play as normal Sonic and then the werewolf Sonic, it’s like playing 2 different games.
While playing as normal Sonic you have to battle your way through the fast paced missions just like the original Sonic games, but once the night comes, you transform into a werewolf and your whole mission style changes. It no longer becomes as fast paced, you generally have to fight your way through large groups of enemies, and because of this, it often leads to a button smashing frenzy.
Another good point of this game is the graphics, the graphics in the rather long starting movie are amazing, and even though they do get worse within the game, I thought they were still pretty good for a Sonic game.
Although the actual idea of the game is good, some points can be quite boring, there are large sections of talking and where you have to talk to people until one of them tells you what you want to find out, this can get quite boring. This next point is obviously down to opinion but in my opinion, the werewolf missions can get a bit dull, you tend to run around smashing enemies and jumping from ledge to ledge, I much rather prefer the standard Sonic mission, but it’s down to personal taste really.
So overall this new Sonic game is a pretty good game to play, fun at most times but there are some parts which can be boring, but, once ou get into the missions and the storyline a bit more, it becomes a good game to play. Most young families and Sonic lovers will have great fun with this game.
