When I first heard about the new Transformers game I was unsure after the epic failure of the first game. But as a huge fan of the films I saw the second film at the first showing and after watching the film and seeing how amazing it was, I decided to buy the game. But after playing the game I realised it is actually an alright game.

Transformers 2 Battle Scene

The game begins with you choosing a side, you can choose the Decepticons or the Autobots. Personally I choose to play as the Autobots. You then move onto a simple tutorial level in which you play as Bumblebee and learn how to pull of the different techniques. The controls I found were simple enough to get the hang of.  You start off as a robot if you hold down the L trigger you will get out your guns, and if you hold down the R trigger you will transform into a vehicle. The game has a few different mission types, these include destroying all the enemies, escorting a convey, protecting certain targets and repairing.

After completing each mission you will receive a medal and you get given energon, which you use to upgrade your transformer. There are not that many upgrades which was a disappointment to me. Also you are given challenges to do during missions, these include driving certain distances or pulling off certain challenges. After completing certain challenges you will unlock full episodes from the original series of transformers which I thought was very cool. I did find that this game wasn’t the longest and took me under 8 hours to complete.

Transformers 2 Revenge of the FallenNow onto the gameplay. The first thing I will tell you is to turn down the sensitivity or it will be difficult to play. But once you do that the game plays out alright. There aren’t that many combos which annoyed me but you mainly use the guns anyway. The majority of the time you will fight basic bots which are really easy to kill and then you will get bosses which are only a little harder. Overall this game is riducasly easy and I didn’t die or fail a mission.

Now onto the Graphics and Audio. The graphics in this game are actually not bad the bots look very cool, they could of put more work into the scenery but you don’t really look at the scenery that much.  During the game there is only a couple of movie scenes but they do look pretty cool. Now, the audio of this game annoyed me, for some reason the characters don’t have the same voices as the movie and they gave Bumblebee a voice, which he doesn’t have in the movies! The music for the game is alright but you don’t really here that much.

Finally onto the multiplayer, the multiplayer of this game works and is very fun to play. At the beginning of the match you choose your character then the mayhem begins. The maps are a good size and its easy to find people.

Summary

Overall Tranformers 2 is an alright game, it is much better than the first game and hopefully it will be the stepping stone for the producers so they can make the third film’s game even more amazing.

Good Points = Your a Transformer !!!!

Bad Points = The lousy voice overs

I give this game a 7/10.

Yeah, I agree with your review. It’s a great fun game and definitely an improvement on the frst one, which was a real let down to any diehard Transformers fan!

But this one is fantastic fun once you start and have gottenthe hang of the insanely sensitive controls. But after a little while you fell like you have reached the limits of what the game has to offer. There are so may other games out there that have great depth in terms of controls, combinations of combat moves, etc.

Why is it always the case that games from the movies are a bit limited?! (A few notable exceptions aside – Golden Eye)

Personally, I’d recommend renting Transformers 2, not buying it. In 3 days you’ll have had your fill.

I agree with Richard about being done after about 3 days of play. This happened to me. It is a marked improvement on the original but I think they should really develop these “film” games to make them amazing and not just knock up a game to make sales off the back of the film releases.
