Good news for World of Warcraft gamers today, Blizzard have released a cinematic trailer of the upcoming expansion, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. In this latest video, we get a look at Deathwing the Destroyer, most of you will know him as Neltharion the Earth-Warder, and by the looks of the nearly-molten black dragon, WoW gamers are going to have a tough road ahead of them when the game is released on December 7th.
Blizzard has announced some changes to the World of Warcraft game that a number of players won’t be best pleased with. They have announced that as of November 11th, all World of Warcraft players will be required to sign up and access World of Warcraft via the Battle.net service. I first encountered the Battle.net accounts several months ago when I was installing Warcraft 3 for the first time. I found the service to be really useful as you can buy old games, as well as being able to download the latest patches for all of the games, all in one central location with just one password. Earlier this year, news and rumours were spread across the internet after it had been found that Blizzard, creators of the massively popular World of Warcraft game, had filed several trademark and patent applications for terms that all included the word “Cataclysm”. Well today, at BlizzCon, their true intentions for their “Cataclysm” project have been announced, and it comes in the form of a new expansion for the game. It appears that Blizzard, creators of the hugely popular World of Warcraft game, are not telling us something about some secret projects of theirs. It’s been reported that Blizzard has filed several applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, each one of these application includes the word ‘Cataclysm’. In all there are 3 applications that cover a range of uses: Computer games and Mouse pads Online games Comics, Strategy Guides, Greeting Cards (no idea why they would want greeting cards), manuals, as well as a range of other uses. A new study has been published by the magazine, Game Developer. The study looked at the best and most successful game developers of 2009. The rankings they came to were based on the Metacritic score aswell as the retail performance in Japan, UK and the US.
