A study carried out in April 2008 by Nielsen Company found that around 50% of all PC gamers were actually female, came as quite a surprise. However, if you look at some individual games it wouldn’t really come as a surprise because with games such as The Sims 3, the majority of the players are women. That aside, it now seems that these women are branching out on the console sector because a new study has been carried out by the NPD Group, a leading American marketing company, which has found that 28% of console gamers are women. A new study has been published by the magazine, Game Developer. The study looked at the best and most successful game developers of 2009. The rankings they came to were based on the Metacritic score aswell as the retail performance in Japan, UK and the US.
