Last Monday, Nintendo made Wii gamers aware that a new firmware update was available for download for the next-gen console. However, the transition to the new firmware hasn’t gone smoothly for some gamers. As with most firmware updates, the idea was not to bring trouble to the consoles, but to help improve the Nintendo Wii experience, without distrupting any current features. A study carried out in April 2008 by Nielsen Company found that around 50% of all PC gamers were actually female, came as quite a surprise. However, if you look at some individual games it wouldn’t really come as a surprise because with games such as The Sims 3, the majority of the players are women. That aside, it now seems that these women are branching out on the console sector because a new study has been carried out by the NPD Group, a leading American marketing company, which has found that 28% of console gamers are women.
