The sequel to one of the best first person shooter games of 2007, BioShock, has been given an official release date today. 2K Games announced the global release date for BioShock 2 on the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 as February 9th, 2010. Previously, the game had been due for release some time before Christmas 2009, however, it was reported that some additional changes needed to be made to the game, forcing a delay, although it may have been that there are simply too many big name releases already set for release before Christmas that forced the delay. Ubisoft, creators of the popular Splinter Cell series, have announced today that they will be delaying the release of Splinter Cell: Conviction, along with a number of other games, until the beginning of 2010. Along with the latest Splinter Cell game, they are also delaying Red Steel 2, now both are planned for an early 2010 release. Also, they are delaying I Am Alive and the next Ghost Recon game, however, these games are pushed back even further with possible release dates expected to be around 2011. Take-Two Interactive has announced that they will be delaying the release of Bioshock 2 until their 2010 fiscal year which is between November 1st 2009 and October 31st 2010. Just like when Batman Arkham Asylum was delayed, the reason for delaying is “to provide additional development time for the title.” The previous release date for the game was November 3rd, just 4 month away. Before you question the date because it’s technically within their 2010 fiscal year, Take-Two always considered this game to be within their 2009 fiscal year because they would have received sales of the game before November 3rd.
