Blizzard has announced some changes to the World of Warcraft game that a number of players won’t be best pleased with. They have announced that as of November 11th, all World of Warcraft players will be required to sign up and access World of Warcraft via the Battle.net service. I first encountered the Battle.net accounts several months ago when I was installing Warcraft 3 for the first time. I found the service to be really useful as you can buy old games, as well as being able to download the latest patches for all of the games, all in one central location with just one password. Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, has said today that he is considering a move to stop making new games for the PS3 and the PSP because the return that they make isn’t as good as other consoles like the Wii and the Xbox 360. This bit of news is yet another blow for Sony after they announced earlier in the year net losses of over $1 billion aswell as a series of job cuts. I recently wrote about the earnings that Ubisoft announced, well, Activision Blizzard have released some of their own financial news now. If you are unaware of what Activision Blizzard is, it is a combined company between what was Activision, creators of Guitar Hero and Call of Duty, and Blizzard, part of Vivendi and creators of World of Warcraft and Diablo. Back to the news part, these combined giants have released their revenue figures for the first quarter of their fiscal year, January to March, and their figures surpassed their expectations of $860 million, as they expected, if that makes sense.
