The 2009 Tokyo Game Show has started today and some big news has already come out of Sony.
Sony started by saying that the recently released Playstation 3 Slim had already sold 1 million units within the past 3 weeks, the price drop to £250 helped no doubt. After that, they announced another variation of the next-gen console.
It’s not a huge difference, simply that it comes with a 250GB hard drive. The price of this new variation is around £285, whereas the 120GB Slim is £250, so not a bad price considering you get more than double the hard drive space.
At release, the console will come with a variety of choices for additional games, the announced packages include the following choices:
For users that are more movie fans than gamers, from October 19th, there will also be a Blu-Ray bundle which will contain The Dark Knight, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and finally an official Sony Blu-Ray remote.
Alongside the new console variation, they also announced the release date for it. They confirmed the date for the new variation as October 1st, however, this date has only been confirmed for the UK and no date has been given for North America. Finally the UK has had something confirmed before everyone else.
That’s a bargain really. Especially considering most people would probably upgrade the hard drive shortly after buying a PS3 anyway. Good going Sony.
