EA today have unveiled their latest project, Skate 3. This third game in the series is said to improve the way you and your buddies can interact both online or offline, just like you would do in real life.
EA revealed that players will be able to create ultimate skating crews either online with people around the world, or offline with their local buddies. Once you have constructed your ultimate crew, you’ll then be able to take part is group events and careers.
This new way to experience the skating game isn’t the only new feature that was announced. Alongside the announcement of an improved ‘Hall of Meat’ feature came a new ‘School’ feature where you will be able to learn and practice the Skate basics.
The ‘Create’ feature, which allows you to create graphics, user videos, and your own skate parks, is also on the list for announced improvements.
As for the release date, EA have said that the game will be due sometime in May 2010 and available for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
I can’t say I’m hugely impressed with what they have announced for the new game. The ability to group up with other gamers is good, but is it really up to their competitors efforts? I would say no. Tony Hawk: RIDE is due for release just before Christmas and they have branched off into a new approach, a Wii Balance Board style skateboard controller. Although the price of this controller would turn some gamers off, if it does prove successful, Skate may lose some sales if they are only introducing feature changes and nothing radically new.
