Skate 2 LogoI got my Skate 2 on Xbox 360 today, and it’s awesome. Being a sequel to the best skating game, Skate, this new game would have to be good to beat the original, and boy is it good.

Skate 2 brings everything from Skate 1, but it also throws in some extra awesome features. The first major feature would have to be the ability to get off your board and experience the world from a different view, plus you can get up steps to some great spots. The only downside to this is that it’s a bit rigid, the character doesn’t move very smoothly. This feature could have had some extra time spent on it, however, it’s still good.

The next feature ties in the ability to get off your board. Not only does the jump off your board feature help you get to hidden places, it also allows you to move objects, which you’ll find you use quite a bit when completing the career, word to the wise here, when completing a mission, take a look around to see if there are any obvious items you could move that would help you, the game doesn’t always say you have to move things, I have spent a long time on one task, then realised I could move a ramp which would solve all my problems.

Sort of related here, the Own The Spot’s are back, and better than ever. You get the standard spots in career, but then with the ability to move things, you can customise and build your own spots and then share them online to see if anyone can own your spot.

Skate 2 Game Footage

In the first Skate game, when you bailed and landed pretty nastily, you broke several bones, makes sense really, but in Skate 2, that has been expanded on. It’s called the Hall Of Meat, like the first game, there are several ‘goals’ for breaking you limbs, however, it doesn’t end there. The Hall Of Meat has also been made into an online mode where you and either your buddies or some random folks you met online, can battle against each other to see who can break themselves the best, fun.

Aswell as all these things, there are many new moves and tricks that you can do as you race your way around the city and complete the career, also, something worth mentioning, you can now buy property in the game, not sure what you do with it yet, I would imagine that you can just skate around without being knocked down by security.

Overall, Skate 2 is an awesome game, as good as, if not better, than the original. I look forward to playing it for many hours to come. My rating would be 9/10.
