EA has announced that the Rock Band 2 software is being released on November 21st in the UK, exclusively to Xbox 360 for a period of time, and the standalone instruments will be available “beginning of December”.
Slightly odd I thought that they are releasing the instruments a month after the software, although the current Rock Band instruments should work with this new game. The reason for having these dates separate could be to compete against it’s rival, Guitar Hero World Tour, which is also scheduled for release mid-November, so even if the Rock Band’s instruments are not yet ready for shipment, they can get the software out there to tempt people away from Activision’s Guitar Hero World Tour.
So, with this news, many music game fans will have a big decision to make, which game to buy. I would have to say that Rock Band 2 has the upper hand, with a huge selection of downloadable content, the ability to put your Rock Band songs onto Rock Band 2, plus improved instruments, this all makes Rock Band 2 very tasty.
Whereas, Guitar Hero World Tour, although they have alot of experience with the guitar side, they haven’t made a game with guitar, bass, drums and mic before, so there could be some problems with their instruments, whereas this is Rock Band’s second time round, allowing them to implement improvements to their instruments.
