Some retailers have been allegedly told that there will be an upcoming price cut for the Playstation 3 and the PSP. Apparently Sony told a major retailer that the prices for both of the consoles will be reduced soon.
Unfortunatelyan exact date has not been confirmed as Sony don’t wish to affect their sales figures. To be honest, if you were planning on buying a PS3 soon, it would be wise to wait as it sounds like there is definately a cut on the table.
Although the dates have not yet been confirmed, there is a rumour running around that the cuts in the US will come between March 23rd and 27th during the Game Developers Conference. This cut is expected to be cut down from $399 (£280) to $299 (£210). Hopefully we will see the same sort of cuts in the UK as this would be a considerable cut.
With these price cuts rumoured, is this to help Sony get a better grip on the console market considering earlier this year there was some news about Sony having money troubles in other product departments. Also, with the slight price increase of the Nintendo Wii, it does seem like a good time to have a price cut. We’ll have to see if they benefit alot from it.
I am glad that PS3 cut their prices. I did not buy cause it was pretty pricey, but it has come down now and the blu-ray is a bonus.
