Playstation 3 get ITV Player

Written by Scrooby on 18th August, 2010

GamesCom has started this week in Germany. Although there has been alot of news out already, this announcement from Sony caught my eye. In Sony’s press briefing, they announced that they will be increasing their range of catch up TV channels with 6 new channels including the ITV Player for UK console owners. Currently only the BBC iPlayer is available for the Playstation 3. This new deal, which features the ITV Player as one of 6 new channels, is the first of it’s kind because it’s a deal between Sony and a commercial broadcaster (ITV). The deal will allow gamers with an internet connection to catch up with ITV shows up to 30 days after they have been shown on…

Crysis 2 Gets a Release Date

Written by Scrooby on 16th August, 2010

Back in June of 2009, Crytek announced the release of Crysis 2, the sequel to one of the best and most graphical shooters of 2007. When they announced the game, they also announced that the game would be released across multiple platforms, the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC whereas the original game was released just for the PC. Earlier in the year, it was announced that the game, which was scheduled for an October release, was going to be delayed to improve the quality of the game play, although many thought that the reason was that it wouldn’t have to compete with big releases such as Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops. Well today it was announced that…

Collector Editions Get Stupid

Written by Scrooby on 12th August, 2010

These days, more often than not, when you go to buy a new game that is projected to be a medium to large release in the gaming calendar, you’ll find that you have a variety of options to choose from. Obviously you get the standard game on it’s own for about £40. However, you’ll also find a Special Edition and maybe even a Collectors Edition. Over the past few years, this has become more popular when releasing a game with each time one of these Collector Editions being released, the item you get with it is yet more elaborate. Halo 3 is one of the big releases that I always remember as they had a series of different ‘bundles’ you…

Assassins Creed: Brotherhood Collectors Edition Announced

Written by Scrooby on 9th August, 2010

Assassins Creed has always been a Marmite sort of game, you either love it or you hate it. Some say that it is too simple and doesn’t provide gamers with enough control. However, although I hate Marmite, I do love Assassins Creed and when I heard today’s news, it made me mega excited about the release of the latest game in the franchise later this year, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood. Assassins Creed: Brotherhood has joined the list of games that has been given the collectors edition special treatment. Set, for the same release as the standard copy of the game, the collectors edition will feature the following alongside the game: A Doctor Jack-in-the-box, that’s right a Jack-in-the-box! Not one you’d give…

Dirt 3 Trailer Released

Written by Scrooby on 9th August, 2010

Being named by the developers as “the end”, CodeMasters look to end their rally trilogy with a massive, and muddy, bang with the release of Dirt 3 in 2011. Just this week a brand new trailer was released for the game which shows off the wide range of areas and weather conditions gamers will be able to race around in the new year. The original Dirt game, which was released back in the summer of 2007, was targeted at more classic rally. However, many Dirt fans were disappointed with the second game in the franchise as the game was based largely around the X-Games and Monster Energy drink. In a hope to please all audiences, Dirt 3 will try and…
