Microsoft Announced New Xbox 360 Controller

Written by Scrooby on 31st August, 2010

Microsoft have announced today that they are releasing a brand new Xbox 360 controller. The new controller is going to be released in a matt silver with with grey buttons, rather than the original green, red, yellow and blue. The analogue sticks have also changed, each having a more exaggerated concave shape. That’s not all the changes though. The biggest changes come to the D-pad which transforms from the existing d-pad, which is more of a flush disc, to a popped out plus sign. To make this simple change, all you have to do is rotate the d-pad clockwise 90 degrees. You may wonder, what’s the point, it just does the same thing. However, Microsoft have a few suggestions on…

Microsoft Raise Xbox Live Charges

Written by Scrooby on 30th August, 2010

Microsoft have announced today, via Major Nelson, that the prices for the Xbox Live service will be going up on 1st November 2010.  The price updates are going to take effect in the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico and Canada. The biggest rises go to the United States where all their subscriptions are being increased. The one month subscription will go from $7.99 to $9.99, the 3 month subscription will go from $19.99 to $24.99. The biggest rise comes to the annual subscription which is increasing by $10, making the new price (as of November 1st) $59.99. The United Kingdom, Mexico and Canada have got off pretty lightly, only the 1 month subscription price will be increasing. In the United…

Microsoft Bans Halo: Reach Downloaders

Written by Scrooby on 25th August, 2010

In less than 3 weeks, gamers all round the world will be able to get their hands on the latest, and final, Halo game developed by Bungie. Halo: Reach is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year on the Xbox 360, however, some gamers were able to download the game illegally earlier this month. The game was reportedly leaked after the game was made available to journalists from Microsoft’s online store. It was then spread across the internet to sites like The Pirate Bay and then downloaded hundreds of times by pirate gamers (not the eye patch, parrot fetish ones). Well now Microsoft are putting their weighty boot down and tracking down anyone playing the game…

Force Unleashed 2 Demo Coming Soon

Written by Scrooby on 23rd August, 2010

One of the most popular games at GamesCom this year was Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2. Gamers at the event were able to get a glimpse of the game during a demo played out during the conference. Unfortunately, the game isn’t being released until October 26th. However, there have been reports that us gamers won’t have to wait that long to fight as Starkiller once again. Joystiq reported that there will be a demo being released to all the major consoles prior to release on October 26th. They also mentioned that the demo will be a tweaked and more polished version of the demo shown during the GamesCom event. The demo available to gamers will put you back into the…

2010 Game Releases, What’s Hot for Christmas

Written by Scrooby on 20th August, 2010

Since gaming has been pretty bleak this summer with the only highlight of my gaming calendar in July and early August being Lego Harry Potter: Year 1 -4, I think it was time to look ahead and report on what games to watch out for on the run up to Christmas 2010. From the looks of the upcoming games you’ll see below, 2010 is very much a year of the sequels. I personally don’t have a problem with this, as long as it was a good game to begin with and they don’t screw it up, I’m perfectly happy playing a second or even third generation of a game. That aside, I’ll begin. Mafia 2 I’m eagerly awaiting my copy…
