New Fable 2 Content Review

As soon as my Xbox Live account had been unlocked yesterday, I went straight onto the marketplace and bought the new downloadable content for Fable 2, so here’s my view on it.

Fable 2Before I say anything about it, I have to say, I think Fable 2 really did need new content, don’t get me wrong, it’s a great game, but the length of it and the lack of online multiplayer really doesn’t give the game any reason to carry on playing it. However, with the new content, it now does.

To start your new adventure, you begin by speaking to Gordon the boatman, in Bowerstone Market, who kindly gives you a ride in his submarine, also, he gives you one of many new pieces of armour. Throughout the whole of the new content, in a series of chests, you get the whole of the Knights armour set, which I must say, once you get the full set, it looks pretty cool.

So, the whole idea of the new content is that you travel to a new island called Knothole Island where they are having problems with their weather, it’s too cold, so they have hired you to solve that problem. However, once this problem is solved, they don’t like the weather you gave them. In the end you have to change the weather 3 times, fussy people.

Fable 2Although the new content quests are good fun and contain everything that made the game good, but, it also has one of the things that pulled down Fable 2, and that’s the length. The new content is very short, which you would expect for 800 Microsoft Points. However, that point is the only bad point about the new content.

So that aside, onto the other stuff. Not only does the content contain new quests, it also contains a wide range of items including weapons and armour, which looks pretty cool. Another thing it brings is 3 new achievements worth a total of 100 gamerscore. The new achievements are as follows:

  • The Meteorologist: You, or a friend, recovered all the totems in Knothole Island and reactivated the Weather Chamber.
  • The Bibliophile: Find all the books detailing the history of Knothole Island, or help another Hero to do so.
  • The Collector: Acquire all the mystery items in The Box of Secrets shop, or see another Hero do so.

The first achievement is easy, you simply have to finish all the new quests. The other two are slightly harder but not difficult. The Collector is the simpler of the two, you just have to go around the shops in the main towns and collect some items. The final achievement, The Bibliophile, is the harder of the 3. You have to collect the books about the history of the island from hidden places around Knothole Island. For full detailed help on getting these achievements visit: Xbox360Achievements.org.

So I guess the only thing left to write about it is, is it worth the 800 Microsoft Points, which works out at just under £7. Well, if you loved Fable 2 and the whole gameplay, then you will love this new content. In my opinion for £7, it was worth it, it provides some great gaming time plus it really reminds you of how good Fable 2 is.
