And so I’m back, from outer space…. well, not quite outer space, although it would be faster to get to. I have returned from my Christmas holiday in the sunny Australia.
I must say, Australia is a fantastic country, and Sydney is a great city. That’s where I started my holiday, in Sydney, mainly for sight seeing and shopping really, and there’s lots of both. I visited the Sydney Opera House, fortunately, I didn’t see an Opera. I also climbed up the Sydney Harbour Bridge, legally of course. You get strapped on with what is basically a ball and chain in a jump suit, and then you have to start the rather long journey up several ladders and many many many steps, but once your at the top, it’s great, fantastic views of the city.
After Sydney, we travelled to Brisbane city, and in my opinion, it’s not that brilliant, well, for tourists. There are some nice shops there, but not alot of things to do and see. It seems to be full of museums and convention centres. Fortunately, we only stayed there for a few days before we drove down to the amazing Gold Coast, and this is where we stayed over Christmas Day, in the absolutely amazing Palazzo Versace Hotel.
Christmas Day was great, we went down to the beach, which was pretty packed, on Christmas Day in the UK, the streets are deserted, but in Austailia, basically every is outside and have barbeque’s on the beach.
The Gold Coast is a great place, being closer to the equator than Sydney, it is hotter, and managed to reach lovely temperatures of around 30-34°C. We visited Sea World, and the great Warner Brothers Movie World which features some amazing rides like Batwing Spaceshot, Superman Escape and the Lethal Weapon rollercoaster. The Gold Coast also hosts the only Hard Rock Cafe in Australia, which must have the best burgers in the Gold Coast.
After we finished at the Gold Coast we then flew back up to Sydney for a few more days before we had the 24 hour flight back to the very cold UK, which, at 0°C is quite a shock to the system after coming from 30°C temperatures. Although it would be great to stay in Australia for longer, especially the Gold Coast, getting back to the UK, relaxing and going on my PC is good too.
I am very jealous as that is a part of the world that I have wanted to visit for a while but have yet to make it there. Did you enjoy your trip?
Yes thanks, I enjoyed my trip alot, I would recommend it for everyone, it has a bit that everyone will like. Aslong as you can handle the 20-24 hour flight
welcome back
