It was recently announced that the upcoming Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 game is being released with 3 different bundles options, the standard, the hardened edition and finally the over the top, prestige edition.
At the time this was announced, no UK retailers were listing the hardened edition and the prestige edition, however, things have now changed.
It’s been announced that HMV will be getting exclusive rights to sell the prestige edition for the PS3 and Xbox 360 at a price of £120. Not only is this game exclusive to HMV, but it’s also an online exclusive because HMV won’t be offering the game for sale in stores.
The game was released onto their store yesterday and I’m not sure if the site said this yesterday or not, but now a day later it says “Unavailable: Sorry this title is deleted”. Whether they have suddenly sold out over the space of 1 day, or they have not yet put it on sale.
Being priced at £120 came as a slight surprise to me because it was cheaper than I had expected. Considering the price of the hardened edition is £70, you are only paying an extra £50 for the night vision goggles, which have a range of 50 feet, and the sculpted head.
Don’t worry if you don’t shop at HMV though, you will still be able to purchase the standard edition and the hardened edition from all other good retailers. Play.com are currently listing both, although, as usual, game lag behind when it comes to listing announced products.
Might be buying the game from HMV then!
