The new Halo Reach campaign trailer was released the other day and is entitled “The Battle Begins” and when I learnt of this when sitting in my little office space I couldn’t wait to get back on the Xbox and have a look at it!
I will confess to being very disappointed by what I was playing when it came to Halo: ODST but Reach is looking fantastic. I played the Reach Beta from the second it was released here in the UK and despite what I thought was going to be another disappointment I was amazed at what the guys at Bungie had done. This is going to be one of the biggest releases of the year if not the decade as it is Bungie’s attempt at sending Halo out with a bang.
As you can see, the new trailer is focused solely on the campaign and is looking to be one of the most immersive campaigns we have seen in Halo as of yet. Whilst I am slightly disappointed we do not get to play as the Chief in this game (after all he took part in the battle of Reach) I am looking forward to the story of Noble Team and the inevitable fall of Reach at the end of the game. As you can see in the trailer, the game promises massive battles, improved graphics and in case you didn’t already know, a bit of space combat thrown in for good gesture!
I have to admit when the announcement came through that it would be the Elites that the Spartans were once again fighting I was pretty excited and this is because I always thought the Elites were far more entertaining to fight than the Brutes.
The experience with the Spartans seems to be a lot more up close and personal than before because there is a team of them and of course you see them without their helmets on in various parts of the game which means the storytelling is likely to be a lot different to what we have seen before.
Although I am not too excited by the fact that Forge has been improved upon as I didn’t really have time for it in Halo 3 I will confess to being very interested to see what they have done to expand Blood Gulch to make one of the biggest in game maps I have ever seen. It looks like the team have made it a lot easier to make maps and with this, speeding up the entire process which means I might actually have a chance to show off some of my creativity this year!
All in all the game is looking fantastic and from my point of view I really do hope it outsells COD because it deserves to!
