I received Guitar Hero World Tour and Gears of War 2 this morning and just had to start playing Guitar Hero, and after I write this I will be moving on Gears, which I shall write about soon, now onto Guitar Hero.
I was impressed by all the customizations that you can make, but not so by the song list, in the beginning that is.
When you first load up the game you see have to create a new band, and like Rock Band, you are able to give it a name, create and customise a logo. After you have created your band you can then move onto making your own fully customisable character and instrument.
Once into your career, you can see it’s alot different from Guitar Hero 3, instead of playing individual songs in one place, you have to play anything from 3 to 5 songs, plus an encore, and possibly a battle, at one time.
The first few songs, in the guitar career, are a little slow and dull, but as you get further into the career you can start to play the legendary songs like Livin’ On A Prayer, Eye Of The Tiger, just two that come to mind.
The whole look of the characters is basically the same, a little bit more detail but not much. Another change is the way the screen is laid, personally I don’t like it, I prefered the style of Guitar Hero 3, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.
At the moment, I can only mention 2 differences between Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band. The main one being the music maker, I haven’t tried it yet but the ability to download and play other peoples songs is a good feature. The second difference is that in Guitar Hero World Tour there is now a bass career, unlike Rock Band.
In total this game is very good, not sure if it quite beats Rock Band, but I’ll have to see.
