Tags: Tony Hawks: Ride
At E3 this year, the first game that was announced was the next Tony Hawks game, Tony Hawk: Ride, and it looked to revolutionise skating games. The reason why is because it’s the first skating game to come with it’s very own controller. Surprise surprise the game is published by Activision, it seems that every game they release is coming out with a controller, but I won’t complain too much.
The controller is quite similar to a Wii balance board, it’s simply in the shape of a skateboard. All you have to do to control your in-game character is stand on the board, to move you push on the ground like you would with a normal skateboard and sensors in the side detect your foot moving past.
To turn and do tricks you have to angle the board into different positions. It looks like you will get all the fun out of skateboarding, without getting hurt when you bail.
The reason why I’m talking about this is because the best game shop in the UK, Game, have announced that they will be getting an exclusive controller design. The standard controller is dark grey along the top and then light grey on the bottom. As for the Game exclusive one, this one has a red top with a black hawk.
The people over at Game were kind enough to give me a picture of the new controller, so here it is to the right. I must say, the board looks awesome and I’ll definately be buying my copy from Game.co.uk.
You can get this exclusive controller when you buy the Tony Hawk: Ride game either online at Game.co.uk or instore, costing £99.99, no price rise for the exclusive controller. Also, the special controller is available for all 3 major consoles, an Xbox 360 version, a PS3 version and finally a Nintendo Wii version.
Game really have made it the best place to buy this new game, considering you get an exclusive controller, as well as double reward card points when you pre-order. As you get double points, you will earn 2000 points on your card which is equal to £5 off your next Game purchase.
The game is released on November 20th so you’ve got a good 100 days to make sure you get your pre-order in, just remember to do it though.
This is fantastic! What a skating board, it look damm good. Its color is fascinating and the picture shows the energy to skate and fly like a hawk. Wow, it would be a fun using it with self controller. It means no fear of falling and getting hurt, Just skate, run, and take different positions and enjoy. Sporty info ;-0
“all the fun out of skateboarding, without getting hurt when you bail.” Well I don’t think it will be as fun as skateboarding but sure does sound fun
Finally something new in the skateboarding video game genre, I had really had it with skategames after Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 but EA’s SKATE really did something good to the genre
