Since playing some Pro Evolution Soccer against the guys at FreshEgg on Friday, I felt like getting my hands on a football game for the 360. Since I haven’t had a football game since my Ps2, I thought it would make a change from the normal FPS games.
Not really knowing which one to go for, I’d heard some things about Fifa 09 about how the graphics were better than Pro Evo and it was in general a much better game. Now that I’ve got my hands on it, I can agree, Fifa 09 is an awesome game.
Not alot can really be said about the story, because there isn’t one, but it’s just like any other football game, you can take part in tournaments from all around the world, or simply have a quick match with the teams of your choosing. One feature that I haven’t yet tried out yet is the manager side of things where you can buy and sell teams and then I assume play the matches with your team.
There are a number of pretty cool features on the game, one being the Adidas Live Season which sounds very good. What it does is it tracks the current football matches taking place around the world, and alters the in-game characters to how well that player is performing in real life, so if the player is injured in real life, you may not be able to play him in-game. This adds a nifty little feature and makes you feel like you’re playing the real players.
The absolute best feature that I think that game has is the loading screen and the main menu. When you load up the game, the main menu pops up, but it’s not just any menu, you are controlling a player and you can simply relax on this practice pitch, taking shots at the goal, which is defended by a keeper. This lets you get a good control of the game and practice your shots.
Once you press the ‘start’ button, you can choose which match to play, once this is chosen, you return to the practice pitch while your game is loading. Once the game has loaded, the kit you’re wearing and the pitch you’re playing on changes to the one you selected for your match, how good’s that! You can then carry on taking pot shots at the keeper until you are ready to start the match.
The graphics of the game are very good, certainly alot better than what I saw when playing Pro Evolution 2009 on the Playstation 3, whether that’s the game or the console I don’t know. But the quality of the entire game is very high.
Overall the game is brilliant, it has a huge range of tournaments from all around the world, plus a huge range of other features that will keep you entertained. Plus once you have got fed up of playing against the computer, it then has a multiplayer feature where you can play against people around the world. I wonder whether they will top Fifa 09 with the release of Fifa 2010 later this year.
Definitely a must buy if your a sports fan and alot better than Pro Evo.
Good Points = Amazing graphics, brilliant features I’ve never seen in a football game
Bad Points = Ref can take a while to decide a decision
I give this game a 8/10.
Great post
