The sequel to one of the best driving games ever made, Colin McRae: Dirt, is close to release. With less than one month before Colin McRae: Dirt 2 is released, the makers of the game, Codemasters, have released a little teaser to let you get the taste for rally racing. A demo has been released today onto the Playstation Network and the Xbox Live Marketplace, for free download of course.
Once you have downloaded the demo you will have the chance to play through two different events, both of which can be played single-player, or online with a total of 8 players.
The first event is the Trailblazer where you have to drive your way through the Moroccan terrain in a Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. You will have to push your car to the limit to hammer down the straights and make the best time around the hairpins.
The second event available is a Landrush event. This is where you will go head to head against 7 other racers, either online or offline, as you race around the Ensenada Port circuit which is set in Baja California, Mexico. In this event, your weapon of choice will be the West Coast Choppers Stucka Trophy Truck.
Along with the demo, Codemasters have created a little competition for us gamers. They for the Glenn McDonald, a level designer for Dirt 2, to set a fast run of the Trailblazer event. Gamers have been challenged to beat his time of 2:51:93 with the promise of exclusive Colin McRae: Dirt 2 prizes if they do. Sounds pretty awesome.
No doubt after playing the demo we’re going to be wanting the get our hands on the real thing, however, we’ll have to wait till September 11th here in the UK to do that.
This looks great, I’ll have to download the demo and give it a go. I doubt I will get the award for beating the lap time but will give it a go.
