Back in June of 2009, Crytek announced the release of Crysis 2, the sequel to one of the best and most graphical shooters of 2007. When they announced the game, they also announced that the game would be released across multiple platforms, the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC whereas the original game was released just for the PC.
Earlier in the year, it was announced that the game, which was scheduled for an October release, was going to be delayed to improve the quality of the game play, although many thought that the reason was that it wouldn’t have to compete with big releases such as Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Well today it was announced that the game will be shipping early 2011. However, if you follow Crytek on the Twitter, you’ll know that they announced that the game is scheduled for March 22nd in North America and just a few days later on March 25th for Europe. This release date means that the game won’t have to compete the Gears of War 3 which is scheduled for an April 2011 release.
Crysis 2 plunges you back into the high-tech warfare, once again, using your nanosuit which gives you superhuman powers including super strength, speed and even invisibility. This time however, the year is 2023 and rather than running through the deep jungle searching for an alien race, you are racing your way around the explosive jungle that is New York City.
If you haven’t played the original Crysis, I would highly recommend it. However, you will require a better than average PC if you want to really get the full effect of the game. But with more than 6 months before the release of the sequel, you’ve got plenty of time to give it a go.
