I guess this is part 1 of the review because I’m currently playing the first game, Escape From Butcher Bay. If you are wondering why I’m playing the first not and not the new one, the reason is because Assault on Dark Athena comes with a free copy of Escape From Butcher Bay, how good of the guys at Atari.
So really this is more of a review for Escape From Butcher Bay, but the Assault on Dark Athena review will be coming soon, and if the game is anything like the original, it should be great.
When I first started playing Butcher Bay I was slightly confused because you play the first part of the game, and then you wake up in the ship that you thought you had just landed in, not entirely sure what the point of that was, whether it was a sort of training section. But after this bit, you go right into the game, unfortunately, it goes slightly slow to begin with, because you are in a prison, you end up having to do little missions for different inmates just to get those inmates to help you escape. However, after you have got past these and managed to slip through the gap, it gets very good.
I never played the original Riddick game when it was released, and I really should have because it is an amazing mix of stealth, melee combat and FPS. As you attempt to break out of the prison, you have to slip through the shadows shooting and breaking enemies necks.
Onto the graphics of the game. Although the game has been remastered since it’s original release for the Xbox in 2004, the graphics still are not amazing and sometimes when the people are talking, their mouths don’t quite match up correctly, just little things that I hope are different on the new game.
Overall Escape From Butcher Bay is a pretty good game and if you fancy giving it a go, by buying the new Assault on Dark Athena game, you get boths games for the price of 1, also at Game it’s £35, £5 cheaper than the normal game price so it’s even better.
Watch out for the review for the actual Assault on Dark Athena review in the next few days.
