What is the best game of 2008?

Now, this question is a difficult one, which is the best game of 2008? With the new year coming closer, I thought I would ask this question. There have been so many brilliant games out this year, including: Gears of War 2 – This amazing sequel to the original gear was absolutely amazing and the story just seems to get deeper and deeper as you go through, Call of Duty: World at War – This game is pretty good, I don’t feel it was as good as CoD4, but still deserves to be one of the best game, Fable 2 – Fable 2 was not as good as I expected, It was brilliant, and such an improvement on the first,…

Skate 2 Release Date Announced

EA has announced that Skate 2 is behind released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on January 23rd. In this game, we will be able to discover the new city, New San Vanelona after it is recovering from a disaster, not sure what the disaster is as of yet. However, you will not just be able to discover the city on your board, but off it aswell. You can now get off your board and get a closer view on the new city. I personally loved the original Skate game, mainly because of the way you controlled it, it was no other skating games. When I got my Xbox 360 I went out and bought Tony Hawks Proving Ground, I…

Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero World Tour?

Written by Scrooby on 23rd November, 2008

After some slight stock problems, I finally received my Rock Band 2 yesterday from Game. This means I can now compare Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour. Lets start off with Guitar Hero. Like I said in my previous post, the customisation in the game is brilliant, you can customise everything from hair colour to mic stand. A very good point I found in Guitar Hero that’s not in Rock Band is the ability to pause the game during a long note, and as you go back into the game, it does a countdown and that allows you to continue playing that note without cutting the note short because you paused it, you’ll see what I mean, but…

GTA 4 New Content Release Date Announced

Written by Scrooby on 20th November, 2008

The much anticipated downloadable content for the brilliant Grand Theft Auto 4 game has been given a release date. The new content will be released on the 17th February 2009. This information comes from USA Today who also has said that the content will consist of a new episode and also a new character called Johnny Klebitz. The main character from GTA 4, Niko, is meant to have only a small part within this new content. The Rockstar boss, Dan Houser, said that we will be seeing “a different side of Liberty City” and that “mysteries from the main story get explained”. So by the sounds of that, it looks like we’re in for a treat with this new content,…

Gears of War 2 Review

Written by Scrooby on 10th November, 2008

Overall, I think Gears of War 2 is an amazing game and has to be one of the best shooters on the Xbox 360. When you start this new game you are thrown straight into the action with your buddies Dom, Baird and Cole in another attempt at defeating the vile Locust. As you fight your way through group after group of Locust throughout the game, you can see some of the great new features that they have built in. The first new things you see would have to be the new weapons, one being the great shield, you can move behind this without being hit or blown up, you can then dig it into the group for a bit…

Guitar Hero World Tour Review

Written by Scrooby on 6th November, 2008

I received Guitar Hero World Tour and Gears of War 2 this morning and just had to start playing Guitar Hero, and after I write this I will be moving on Gears, which I shall write about soon, now onto Guitar Hero. I was impressed by all the customizations that you can make, but not so by the song list, in the beginning that is. When you first load up the game you see have to create a new band, and like Rock Band, you are able to give it a name, create and customise a logo. After you have created your band you can then move onto making your own fully customisable character and instrument. Once into your career,…

Rock Band 2 UK release date announced

Written by Scrooby on 29th October, 2008

EA has announced that the Rock Band 2 software is being released on November 21st in the UK, exclusively to Xbox 360 for a period of time, and the standalone instruments will be available “beginning of December”. Slightly odd I thought that they are releasing the instruments a month after the software, although the current Rock Band instruments should work with this new game. The reason for having these dates separate could be to compete against it’s rival, Guitar Hero World Tour, which is also scheduled for release mid-November, so even if the Rock Band’s instruments are not yet ready for shipment, they can get the software out there to tempt people away from Activision’s Guitar Hero World Tour. So,…

Video Game Review: Fable 2

Written by Scrooby on 26th October, 2008

Set 500 years after the events in the original Fable, Fable 2 comes with a whole new range of features and an improved way that you choose what will happen during your game. The first new feature and choice than you come across is the ability to choose whether your hero is to be a girl or boy, this is just the first of the many choices you will get to take throughout the game. Some other new features include having your own pet dog, being able to get married, have a child, and the ability to buy every property allowing you to make a huge property empire (which is one of the Xbox Live achievements). In this game, not…

Some information about the unofficially announced Assassins Creed 2 game has been leaked. During a brief interview with AusGamers, the animation director of Price of Persia, David Wilkinson said this about Assassin’s Creed animator, Alex Drouin. “He’s busy making Altair even more beautiful”, “Last thing I saw him do was getting Altair to swim.” Although Ubisoft has keep quiet about the next Assassins Creed, by the sounds of it, we’ll be finding out about Altairs past from the depths of the sea.
