Red Faction Guerrilla Review

Written by Matteo89 on 18th June, 2009

When I first saw that there was a new Red Faction game coming out I was unsure; I found them fun but they were never really that good of a game. However, one thing that they do get right is blowing stuff up, which is basically what this game is full of. The game begins with Alec Mason ( That’s you ) arriving on Mars to do some work and then obviously with in the first 5 minutes you see your brother get killed by those damn Earth Defence Force (EDF). So you decide to raise some hell for those EDF by joining the Red Faction Guerilla unit. The game is set in an open world setting with several different sections. To complete each section you must start…

Prototype Video Game Review

I was very unsure of Prototype as to whether it would be a decent game, mainly because it was something different and if the developers couldn’t pull it off, then it could be a poor game. But, after playing it, it’s pretty good. When the game first loads you are shown the trailer that was released fairly recently, which is nothing new, but the quality, it was absolutely amazing. You could have thought you were watching a real film it was that good. Unfortunately, this was only a movie and the game wasn’t quite up to that quality, although the graphics were very good. You play as a character, Alex Mercer, who has been ‘infected’ with some sort of virus…

Fuel Game Review

I never actually intended to get this game, but I came across it because when I went down to Blockbusters to give Forza 2 a go, which they didn’t have, I ended up getting Fuel. The entire game is very similar to the likes of Motorstorm which is exclusive to the Playstation 3. You take part in mainly off road and dirt track courses, using a series of different vehicles including bikes, quad bikes, SUVs and trucks. For each race you can choose from 3 different difficulties which when you complete the race, gives you 1 to 3 stars based on the difficulty. The easiest difficulty is really only as a practice really because as you only get 1 star…

Terminator Salvation Game Review

When this game had originally popped onto my radar, I planned to rent it simply because it was a movie game and you can never really tell how good they are going to be. However, when in HMV  the other day, I noticed that they were selling it for £35 but if you traded in Xmen Origins: Wolverine, you get £25 off. So I took them up on their offer, because it’s got to be worth the £10 right? Well, not really. I never really had high expectations for this game, but these were simply confirmed within the first few minutes of playing the game. You are pretty much thrown straight into combat at the beginning of the game and…

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Game Review

Written by Scrooby on 6th May, 2009

I finally got my hands on the new X-Men Origins: Wolverine game and I haven’t been able to put it down, until now obviously. The reason I only got the game today instead of on the release date was because being a movie game, sometimes they can be rather crap, so I decided that I was going to rent the game, however, when I went over to Blockbusters to get it, they told me that they were not getting it in, which was a pain. So after hearing how good it was from a friend, I decided to hand over the cash and buy it, and I am really not disappointed. Enough of my story,  onto the game. The game…

Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena Game Review

Written by Scrooby on 30th April, 2009

This is part 2 of the Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena review because I posted previously about the remastered original game that comes as a freebie with the new game. Just like Butcher Bay, Assault on Dark Athena begins with a strange sort of level which is basically a training level but it doesn’t say it is, you simply wake up in some sort of sleep freezer once you reach a certain checkpoint, basically the same as Butcher Bay. Once past this little training level, you soon get straight into the action and have to sneak around The Athena ship to discover who you are up against and what’s happening on the ship, and this really isn’t as…

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena Review

Written by Scrooby on 25th April, 2009

I guess this is part 1 of the review because I’m currently playing the first game, Escape From Butcher Bay. If you are wondering why I’m playing the first not and not the new one, the reason is because Assault on Dark Athena comes with a free copy of Escape From Butcher Bay, how good of the guys at Atari. So really this is more of a review for Escape From Butcher Bay, but the Assault on Dark Athena review will be coming soon, and if the game is anything like the original, it should be great. When I first started playing Butcher Bay I was slightly confused because you play the first part of the game, and then you…

Resident Evil 5 Game Review

Written by Matteo89 on 17th March, 2009

As a huge fan I have been playing the games since Resident Evil for the PS1, I have seen the games evolve with the times and become a huge franchise. So I couldn’t wait for the new Resident Evil game to come out so I could see what this one had to other and let me just say that it doesn’t disappoint. Now onto the game, the new Resident Evil follows the story of Chris Redfield and Sheva Aloma who are part of international agency known as the BSAA, they travel to Africa to capture a terrorist but in the process discover a more sinister plot in their search for the truth. In fairness the new Resident Evil game is no longer scary, it’s more of an action game but an amazing one at that. This…

Halo Wars Game Review

Written by Scrooby on 2nd March, 2009

When I first saw that there was going to be a new real time stratergy game based on the Halo series, I thought, great! A new style Halo game, plus with a new part of the Halo storyline. When I got the game yesterday, I was certainly not disappointed. It’s absolutely brilliant and you will want to keep playing it for hours on end. The game has a 15 level campaign which leads you through the events during the build up to the original Halo game. The storyline itself is pretty good and keeps you entertained for a few hours, but once you finish that, there is also some great things you can do. Firstly, there are the skirmishes, theres…

Street Fighter IV Video Game Review

Written by Matteo89 on 24th February, 2009

After hearing about the upcoming release of a new Street Fighter game, I was not sure if it could contend with other next-gen fighting titles such as Dead or Alive. After buying the game on Friday I soon released that not only does it compete, but it’s the best. When you first put the game in, you get this kick ass opening movie which looks amazing, plus,  if you have a HDTV, this scene deserves  to be treasured and watched every time you switch on the game. Now onto the game, this new street-fighter game come with many old characters such as Ken and Ryu. However, there are also several new characters such as Crimson Viper. Although the characters are great, with only a few different game…
