GamesCom has started this week in Germany. Although there has been alot of news out already, this announcement from Sony caught my eye. In Sony’s press briefing, they announced that they will be increasing their range of catch up TV channels with 6 new channels including the ITV Player for UK console owners. Currently only the BBC iPlayer is available for the Playstation 3. This new deal, which features the ITV Player as one of 6 new channels, is the first of it’s kind because it’s a deal between Sony and a commercial broadcaster (ITV). The deal will allow gamers with an internet connection to catch up with ITV shows up to 30 days after they have been shown on…
Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, has said today that he is considering a move to stop making new games for the PS3 and the PSP because the return that they make isn’t as good as other consoles like the Wii and the Xbox 360. This bit of news is yet another blow for Sony after they announced earlier in the year net losses of over $1 billion aswell as a series of job cuts. The Activision CEO said this during an interview with The Times: “I’m getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don’t make it easy for me to support the platform”. He continued by saying “It’s expensive to develop…

Yesterday on Eurogamer.net it was posted that Microsoft had said that they have sold more Xbox 360′s than PlayStation 3′s in all regions of Europe, even in places like Spain and France which are meant to be loyal to PlayStation. They also said that since their price cuts in September, Microsoft have recorded a 124% rise in sales since this time last year whereas PlayStation 3 have only increase by 3%. Now when you read this you think that Microsoft is doing some good sales. But then when you turn to the Game.co.uk website, it’s a different picture. On the Game…
Copies of the much anticipated PlayStation 3 game, LittleBigPlanet, have been recalled by Sony after it came to their attention that a section of the background music contained extracts from the Koran. Sony has apologised to anyone that it may have offended while playing the Beta version. The extracts from the music were made aware to the makers by a Muslim gamer who sent an email to the makers saying that using this music within the game could offend other Muslims, he also recommended a patch to change the music. However, Sony decided to go even further than a patch and release a whole new version, therefore, delaying the launch. This changed version will hit the shops in the UK…
