Blizzard Named as Most Bankable

Develop Magazine have released their Develop top 100 bankable games studios for the fifth year, and this year the number 1 bankable games studio is Blizzard, creators of World of Warcraft, the largest MMORPG in the world and holding a whopping 11+ million subscribers.

Blizzard managed to reach the top of the 100 list this year after beating competition like last years number 1, Nintendo, and other British studios like Rockstar North, creators of Grand Theft Auto 4.

There were a total of 26 British game studios in the listing, and out of those 26, 4 made it into the top 25:

  • Rockstar North – 3rd (GTA 4 creators)
  • Travellers Tales – 12th (Creators of the Lego games)
  • Media Molecule – 18th (LittleBigPlanet makers)
  • Lionhead – 22nd (Creators of Fable 2)

The top 100 list has certainly managed to get this one right considering Activision Blizzard announced their quarterly revenues just the other day and they are certainly not strapped for cash.
