The sequel to one of the best first person shooter games of 2007, BioShock, has been given an official release date today. 2K Games announced the global release date for BioShock 2 on the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 as February 9th, 2010.
Previously, the game had been due for release some time before Christmas 2009, however, it was reported that some additional changes needed to be made to the game, forcing a delay, although it may have been that there are simply too many big name releases already set for release before Christmas that forced the delay.
BioShock 2 is set around 10 years after the events that occurred in the first game which involved you discovering the secrets behind the forgotten city. Now, after a series of mysterious disappearances off the pacific coastline, you must return to the city to once again discover the mysteries it holds. Unlike the first game, you won’t be a weak human, this time you return to the city as a Big Daddy, so you have some muscle on your side.
BioShock 2 is also the first Bioshock game to come with a multiplayer. Set during the collapse of Rapture, you play as a Plasmid test subject and you must use all the weapons and tools you can to stay alive.
I’m really looking forward to this game, I really should get on and finish the first one…
