A few years ago, Medal of Honor was one of the best first person shooter games you could buy, but then with the introduction of games like Battlefield: Bad Company and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Medal of Honor seemed to disappear and their traditional World War 2 games were shadowed by modern combat.

However, at the beginning of December, EA announced a brand new type of Medal of Honor game, one that looks to compete with the modern big guns of Call of Duty.

After 10 years of the classic World War 2 games, EA are taking gamers to the front line of Afghanistan in a brand new first person shooter game where you will play as a Tier 1 Operator. A pretty much unknown part of the U.S forces, they will take on any job that they get.

Medal of HonorThe hand selected team of game designers at EALA have been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the U.S. Special Operations Community to create the most authentic first person shooter available while still being inspired by real life events. The team at EALA will be working on the action packed single player campaign, however, they have teamed up with the multiplayer experts at EA DICE to create an outstanding multiplayer mode to accompany the single player campaign.

Sean Decker, the general manage of EALA and the man who also hand picked the team to make this new game said this about the latest game in the Medal of Honor franchise: “EA has always been an advocate for telling the soldiers’ story. The new Medal of Honor follows that tradition. We felt it was important to tell the story of today’s war and today’s elite soldiers via today’s most relevant medium – video games. We are so proud to bring together two powerhouse development teams to make this game a reality; EA Los Angeles and EA DICE. Medal of Honor promises to be an unforgettable entry in the modern shooter genre.”

With all this in mind, I am really excited about what the geniuses at EA will bring to gamers in their latest game. No release date has been set so far, however, it’s said to be around Autumn 2010, can’t wait!

Green Day Rock BandRumours began a while back into a possible Green Day Rock Band game, however, these rumours we’re thought to be false when a Green Day download pack was released for Rock Band.

Now it appears that in fact those rumours were true as yesterday Green Day Rock Band was officially announced.

Just like The Beatles: Rock Band, this new game will come with customized characters representing the members of the band, which you can clearly see in the trailer below. The trailer below was originally posted on MTV.com but then removed. As you can see, one of their most popular songs, American Idiot, will feature in the game.

More news regarding the game was released today, Harmonix announced that the game will be fully exportable to Rock Band 2, allowing you to play all the new Green Day songs alongside the classic Rock Band 2 songs. Although we did see this feature in AC/DC Rock Band, it had to be removed from The Beatles: Rock Band due to licensing issues with Apple Records.

This feature probably won’t change anyone’s mind into buying the game, however, it is an added bonus and removes the hassle of having to change discs, which I hate.

No release date or set list have been released as yet however hopefully we’ll hear more very soon.

A brand new web based service has launched this week called The Games Trader. The website, which has been in development and testing for several months, will allow you to buy and sell your old gaming items for free, without any listing fees.

The Games Trader is restricted to gaming items only, this means that if you’re looking for second hand games or consoles, you won’t have to dig through a pile of pointless listings until you find the thing you want.

What makes this website even better is that once you find the item that you want to buy, unlike other websites, you aren’t limited to paying for the item in person. The Games Trader allows you to use the massively popular PayPal service to pay for your purchases, meaning you don’t have to live local to get the best in used games.

The final cherry on the cake is the free selling. If you aren’t looking to buy, then maybe you have some unwanted games around the house, The Games Trader is the perfect place to sell them.

With absolutely no listing fees, you’ll find it easy and stress free listing your items. Plus, your item won’t be pushed down the listings by ‘featured ads’ or ’sponsored listings’ because all of the adverts are ranked the same, no favourites.

So it seems that whether you’re buying used video games, or looking to get rid of your old ones, The Games Trader is the ideal place to do both, whether it’s Xbox 360 games or Playstation 3 consoles.

Borderlands LogoWhen I first heard about Borderlands, I didn’t really think that much about it. It looked like another average game that I didn’t really need but after a slow month for games I decided to use my valuable game reward points to buy it and im afraid, I was right, it was average.

The story of the game is that you are one of four mercenaries, Siren, Soldier, Hunter and Berserker. You have come to the planet Pandora in search of an alien vault which is said to contain alien technology.

Now onto the game play. At the start of the game, you chose one of the classes that you level up during the course of the game. The class you chose does not make that much difference because you can still use all of the guns, the only difference really is your special move, which is different for each class. The game uses a levelling tree that has three different sections for you to put your points. You earn points by completing missions and killing enemies. There aren’t that many different mission types, they basically follow the same objectives, go to some place and kill something or pick something up.

Borderlands CharactersNow the main thing to do in the game is pick up loot such as weapons, there are several different types of weapons, which include: pistol, smg, shotguns the usual types of weapons. One of the cool things that Gearbox has done with this game is created a random gun generator which supposedly is able to create an unlimited amount of guns.

Now onto the graphics and audio. The visuals in Borderlands are very cool, the game uses Cel-shaded animation and it works really well the characters and monsters look really cool in Cel- shaded. The audio on the other hand is nothing to talk about, I chose to put my own music on after only little while of listening to the games.

Summary

Overall this game is average, it’s nothing special, it’s just an average shooter and doesn’t have a good enough story for it to be a decent RPG. It has four player co-op which the game handles well and doesn’t lag, the game will take about 18 hours to get 100% and shorter if you are doing it in co-op. If you do want to try the game I recommend you rent the game.

Good Points = Lots and lots of guns.

Bad Points = Lack of story, the ending.

I give this game a 7/10.

Another video for an upcoming release has popped up this week. A new video has been created by Valve to promote the upcoming Left 4 Dead 2 game.

Recently we’ve seen the release of part one of the Assassin’s Creed 2 short movie to support the release of the game. That video followed more of a serious note. Valve have gone for a little less budget, being set in a shed, and less serious video to help promote their game.

Check out the video below and remember to pre-order your copy of Left 4 Dead 2 on PC or Xbox 360 before release on November 17th.
